ABOUT US

The University of Rwanda Surgical Students Society is a student-managed academic organization that promotes interest in the field of surgery by hosting regular events throughout the academic year in collaboration with local as well as expatriate surgical personalities who visit the University of Rwanda referral hospitals and often willing to associate with students through their activities.  It was established in 2014 by two medical students kin on surgery and is now officially a budding society at the University of Rwanda.  Through the activities and events of the society, our members are provided with opportunities, skills and encouragement to facilitate their future surgical careers.  As of November 2014, our members numbered over 60 medical students.

OUR MISSION

1. To promote surgical education among undergraduate medical students and stimulate interest in the field of surgery
2. To promote a culture of medical and surgical research among medical students
3. To expose medical students to personalities in the field of surgery
4. To expose medical students to surgical innovations available locally
5. to make contact and create partnerships with other surgical student's societies worldwide

OUR VISION

The UR-SSS aims to increase interest in the field of surgery among undergraduate medical students enrolled at the University of Rwanda.
